About Us

MISSION STATEMENT: The primary mission of People for Animals is to reduce animal over-population by providing low-cost spay/neuter and related services to the general public, especially lower and middle income groups. In addition, PFA may from time-to-time operate dog and cat rescue services, and undertake efforts to educate the public with respect to spay/neuter and animal care.

Founded in 1980, People for Animals, Inc. is an independent nonprofit animal welfare organization not affiliated with any other Humane Society or any national or local animal welfare groups. They were chosen by the State of New Jersey to participate in a pilot program to reduce animal overpopulation, and in 1985, opened the first Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic of its kind in this State.

People for Animals relies entirely upon private donations, grants, bequests and fundraising events to care for more than 12,000 animals the organization provides services for each year. The following programs are run by People for Animals:

Pet Rescue and Adoption Program
This Program, staffed by volunteers, provides medical care, food and shelter to rescued, stray and abandoned animals until permanent, loving homes can be found.
Adoption Days
Are held every other week at the Bridgewater PetsMart and at a variety of other locations and events throughout the year.
